Gunnedah Bird Sale & Expo

1997 saw the first bird sale hosted by the Namoi Valley Aviculture Club. It was held at the Gunnedah Showground's Griffith Pavillion. The following year, the event moved to the PCYC in order to host both trade stands and birds. The PCYC was quickly outgrown and the sale was moved to the Judi Guest basketball stadium, which is twice the size of its previous location. The 2005 sale was split, with the club using the Griffith Pavillion nearby to house the trade stands. The sale has become a major event on the east coast, with many bird lovers travelling from all over Australia to attend.
