About the Course
Gender equality is now universally recognized as a core development objective. This course offers a concise and insightful exploration of the principles and practices necessary for promoting gender equality and integrating a gender perspective across all sectors and levels of society. It provides a comprehensive understanding of gender mainstreaming and its importance in achieving inclusive and equitable outcomes. • Structural and systemic causes of gender disparities
• Intersectionality: Understanding how gender intersects with other social identities
• Exploring the impact of gender inequality on individuals and societies
Gender and Development – Historical Background
• Evolution of gender and development approaches
• Historical milestones in the recognition of gender issues in development
• Critiques of earlier development paradigms and the emergence of gender-responsive approaches
• Understanding the relationship between gender equality and sustainable development
Gender Mainstreaming Cycle
• Overview of the gender mainstreaming approach
• The four stages of the gender mainstreaming cycle: gender analysis, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation
