Treating PTSD + Complex Trauma with Dr Leah Giarratano 21-22 and 28-29 September 2023 Livestream for UK and EU
Core four-day training for mental health professionals working with psychologically traumatised populations in the United Kingdom, Ireland and surrounding countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Registration is open to practicing graduate counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical practitioners, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and psychotherapists. The spoken language during the livestream is English
The content is applicable to both adult and adolescent populations. The techniques will be immediately useful and effective for your clinical practice. The full four-day program attracts 39 trauma-focused professional development hours.
There is a difference in the best-practice treatment for PTSD (Day 1-2) vs Complex PTSD (Day 3-4). This program synthesises practical approaches from several modalities that are publishing positive outcomes for these clients and presents them using actual cases that will underpin your clinical practice in traumatology. The program will explain when exposure-based interventions are indicated and appropriate, and when other therapeutic needs must be addressed first, and how to meet these needs.
Day 1-2 is dedicated to treating PTSD clients utilising a cognitive behavioural approach. Day 3-4 is dedicated to the treatment of Complex PTSD (survivors of child abuse and neglect/ developmental trauma/prolonged interpersonal trauma) utilising the phase-based approach and incorporating current experiential techniques showing promising results with this population; drawn from Emotion Focused Therapy for trauma, Metacognitive Therapy, Schema Therapy, Attachment pathology treatment, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Following Day 4 is an optional Trauma Case Study Group (included in your fee) and its purpose is to apply the skills presented in your Day 1-4 training to real cases and improve your ability to formulate a treatment plan with trauma clients.
Please note that you are required to attend Day 1-2 (Treating PTSD) before attending Day 3-4 (Treating Complex Trauma), as essential material is covered in the first workshop and not repeated in the second. The programs work together and while people may choose to do the first but not the second; they don't work the other way around.
You can participate in the Day 1-4 livestream from anywhere using a tablet, laptop or desktop and you need a constant internet speed of at least 15Mbps for 8 hours per day. A laptop with a built-in microphone and camera is highly recommended. Leah Giarratano will present the livestream from her studio and you will be able to participate via text, audio and/or camera. Each livestream session will be between 1.5 and 2 hours in duration with three 15-30 minute breaks during the day (for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea).
Please note that you must be registered by 21 August 2023 in order to participate in the livestream program to allow sufficient time for your printed materials to be delivered by international express post. Late registrations will not be accepted and our printed materials are not available electronically.
